Set in a Punjabi village, two families are divided by ego, education and the language they speak. Driven by comparison, Rupinder Kaur brings home an English-speaking daughter-in-law, Gagan, to prove her family's status. However, Gagan is hiding a secret — she does not know a word of English. As the lie grows heavier, the situation creates a series of humorous and emotional complications, ultimately challenging the families to confront their expectations, relationships and the importance of being true to themselves.
